Airport Authority suspended flight operation from Terminal 1.

New Delhi, June 28, 2024: Airport Authority of India (AAI) has suspended all flight operations at Terminal-1 of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi for an indefinite period following a portion of the roof was collapsed early Friday morning.

According to officials, Flight operations of Terminal-1 have been temporarily shifted to Terminal-2 and Terminal-3 until construction and repair work is completed.

The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which operates IGI Airport, said that a technical committee has been constituted to investigate the cause of the collapse and submit its findings at the earliest.

“All related agencies, including the DGCA, Civil Aviation Bureau, CISF, Delhi Police, and NDRF, are working jointly to assess the damage and restore normal operations as soon as possible,” DIAL said in a statement.

FIR has been registered in the airport police station:

IGI Airport Deputy Commissioner of Police Usha Rangnani confirmed that a case has been registered at the airport police station in connection with the incident.

Authorities are currently carrying out inspections and safety checks across other parts of the terminal to prevent any further mishaps.
