AIIMS Darbhanga, a great healthcare boost for Bihar: The foundation stone will lay on November 13.

Patna November 12, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for a new AIIMS Darbhanga, Bihar, on Wednesday, marking a significant advancement in healthcare infrastructure for North Bihar.
Beside AIIMS Darbhanga, the Patna facility is already operational:
Currently, Bihar has one operational AIIMS, located in Patna, but the new facility in Darbhanga is set to address the region’s growing demand for advanced medical care.
The Bihar government demonstrated its commitment to this project by officially transferring 150.13 acres at the Ekmi-Shobhan bypass to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in August, ensuring the project’s momentum.
BJP MLA Sanjay Sarawgi inspected the AIIMS site in Darbhanga:
BJP MLA Sanjay Sarawgi, who inspected the construction site, noted the rapid developments in preparation for the Prime Minister’s visit, including the swift construction of an approach road in just four days.
Sarawgi underscored the transformative impact of this initiative, stating, “Modi hai to sab Kuch Mumkin Hai,” while highlighting that residents of Darbhanga and nearby areas are eagerly awaiting the event.
Besides AIIMS, PM Modi will inaugurate an alternate railway bypass route and other central projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and overall development in Darbhanga.
The event will be attended by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha, BJP state present Dilip Jaiswal, Darbhanga MP Gopalji Thakur and other prominent leaders, reflecting the importance of this milestone for Bihar’s future healthcare landscape.
Centre approved the facility in July this year:
The AIIMS Darbhanga project received approval from the Union Ministry on July 25, following a positive site assessment conducted in March by a technical team.
This team evaluated the Ekmi-Shobhan bypass location and deemed it suitable for the new AiiMS campus, paving the way for significant steps toward establishing the facility.
Beyond the initial land transfer of 150.30 acres from the Bihar government to the Union Ministry of Health, the ministry has also specified several key infrastructure requirements essential for the AiIMS Darbhanga project.
These include a stable, permanent electricity connection of 20 MVA from two alternate sources to ensure uninterrupted power supply, four-lane road access to the campus to facilitate easy transportation for patients, staff, and visitors and a daily potable water supply of 1.5 million liters (MLD) to meet the operational demands of the facility.
These infrastructure provisions are intended to ensure that AIIMS Darbhanga operates as a fully equipped, world-class medical institution capable of delivering high-quality healthcare services to North Bihar.
The project represents a milestone in addressing the region’s healthcare needs and aligns with the central and state governments’ efforts to boost public health infrastructure in Bihar.
