A Japanese national was robbed in Gaya.

Patna, April 27, 2024: In a shocking incident, a Japanese national was robbed on Saturday while traveling to Gaya International Airport in Bihar.

The victim, identified as Ucrow Momoz, was on her way to catch a flight to Japan with her husband, Anup Kumar, when four men on two motorcycles intercepted their car near the Vasant Vihar area.

The husband of a Japanese national revealed the incident:

According to Anup Kumar, the assailants tricked them by claiming that their car’s radiator was leaking.

“As soon as our driver stopped the vehicle, they sprayed an anesthetic on us. We lost consciousness, and when we woke up, our cash, mobile phones, and passports were gone,” he said.

The robbers reportedly looted Rs 2 lakh in cash, mobile phones, and travel documents.

Local residents nabbed one accused:

Local residents managed to catch one of the robbers while the other three fled.

“A robbery involving a foreign national has been reported. One accused has been arrested, and raids are underway to nab the others. An FIR has been registered,” said Manoj Kumar, SHO of Bodh Gaya police station.

Ucrow Momoz, a Japanese national who is married to Anup Kumar, resides in Bodh Gaya, where the couple runs an NGO.
