A government school teacher was stabbed and burnt alive in Katihar.
Patna, May 21: A jilted lover stabbed a teacher of a government primary school mercilessly and also set her on fire alive in Bihar’s Katihar district on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at Laxmipur village under Pranpur police station in the district around 5.30 am when the victim Yashoda Devi was on the way to school. The police said that a person named Halchal Kumar committed the crime. He is at large.
“The victim was on the way to the government primary school when a person named Halchal Kumar attacked her with a knife. He stabbed her multiple times until she collapsed on the ground. The accused also poured petrol and set her on fire,” said SDPO Sadar Abhijeet Kumar Singh.
“The preliminary investigation reveals that there was a love affair between them in the past. We have also cross-checked with the family members of the victim and they confirmed the same. Panchayat also happened in this matter in the past,” Singh said.
“The district police recovered the dead body and sent it for postmortem in Sadar Hospital. An FIR has been registered against the accused in Pranpur police station. Raids are on to nab him,” he said.
