Patna July 13: One person died after a massive fire broke out in a multi-storey building in Nehru Nagar locality under Patliputra police station in Patna on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased is identified as Anil Kumar Singh, a builder and owner of the house.

The SHO of the Patliputra police station confirms his death. He said that Singh may have died due to a heart attack after seeing the fire broke out in his building.

“However, the actual reason for his death will be ascertained only after the postmortem report,” he said.

The fire mishap occurred around 3 pm in a multi-storey building called Super City Enclave which was located just behind the Yamuna Apartment in Nehru Nagar locality.

Following the incident, the residents called the local police and fire service about the mishap.

Till that time, fire engulfed a majority of the portion of the building. Four persons were trapped on the top floor of the building. As they were unable to descend due to intense fire, they went to the rooftop of the building. The firefighters eventually rescued them.

“As soon as we received information about the fire, our firefighters reached there in a flash. We have used 13 fire tenders to douse the flame. The building was located on a narrow lane and hence we have used long pipes to reach there,” said Rakesh Kumar, a fire officer.

“Our firefighters have done a commendable job. They have not only extinguished the flame but also rescued 4 persons trapped on the rooftop. The reason for the fire is currently under investigation,” Kumar said.
