Patna July 15: A Bangladeshi national was arrested from the Indo-Nepal Raxaul border for illegally entering Bihar, an official said on Monday.
The alleged Bangladeshi national named G M Sohag tried to enter Bihar posing as an Indian citizen. He was carrying a fake Aadhar Card and an Indian Passport which he obtained under the false identity of Mohammad Javed, a resident of West Bengal’s Hooghly district of West Bengal.
While entering India from the Nepal border, he was thoroughly checked at the immigration counter. The officials suspected him due to his activities and nervousness. When they strictly quizzed him, he broke down and confessed his illegal entry into the Indian state.
When the immigration officials checked his belongings, a photocopy of his Bangladeshi passport was also recovered. Shockingly, the photograph used in the Bangladeshi passport and fake Indian passport was identical.
The accused confessed that he came to India with a valid Visa in the past and obtained a fake passport and Aadhar Card from Kolkata. He then returned to Bangladesh. Later on, he traveled to Nepal and was trying to enter Bihar posing as an Indian citizen but was nabbed.
The accused confessed that he is a resident of Botalwania village of Patuakhali district of Bangladesh.
Following the incident, the immigration department handed over to Haraiya police station for further legal action. He is booked under relevant charges of illegally entering India using fake documents.
“The immigration department has arrested a Bangladeshi national from the Raxaul border and handed over to us. We have also received a written complaint from the immigration department. An FIR has been registered against the alleged person. Further investigation is on,” said Anjan Kumar, SHO of Haraiya police station.
