Patna, April 19, 2024: Setting an inspiring example of civic duty, a 102-year-old woman cast her vote in Bihar’s Aurangabad district on Friday during the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

An old woman came to the polling booth with her great-grandson:

The voter, old woman Jasia Devi, a resident of Kushaha village under Madanpur block, arrived at polling booth No. 304 in her village sitting on the shoulders of her great-grandson Sahendra Yadav.

Speaking after casting her vote, the centenarian said, “I will vote as long as I live. I had also cast my vote in the very first Lok Sabha election.”

On arrival at the polling station, she was provided a wheelchair by the Election Commission to comfortably reach the booth and exercise her franchise.

The poll body has made special arrangements for elderly and disabled voters.

Officials said the Election Commission has ensured special facilities such as wheelchairs, ramps, and differently-abled voters to make polling inclusive.
