Congress gears up for historic CWC meeting in Patna on September 24.

Patna, September 23, 2025: On the eve of the Congress Working Committee CWC meeting, party general secretary KC Venugopal issued a written statement on X, announcing that the Extended CWC will convene in Patna on 24 September under the leadership of INC National President Mallikarjun Kharge.

The preparation for this meeting of the grand old party is nearly completed at Sadaqat Ashram in Patna, which will host the party’s heavyweights on Wednesday.

Highlighting Bihar’s political significance, Venugopal stated, “From the time of the freedom struggle—when Bapu (Mahatma Gandhi) launched the Champaran Satyagraha—to the emergence of stalwarts like Dr. Rajendra Prasad and Babu Jagjivan Ram, Bihar has played a pivotal role in the Congress’s legacy. Today, as Bihar once again stands at a crossroads between the politics of hope, social justice and development on one side, and hatred, rampant unemployment and destruction of the constitution on the other, our CWC meeting here is meant to send a clear message about our commitment to the state’s welfare.”

Congress leader claimed BJP is attempting to rig polls in Bihar:

Venugopal also accused the VJP of attempting to subvert the electoral process.

“Bihar has witnessed the BJP’s worst attempt at election rigging through the hastily conducted and botched-up SIR. In response to this, as well as the rampant vote Chori across India, our Voter Adhikar Yatra, led by Rahul Gandhi and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav, and the INDIA bloc, warned the people of the BJP’s foul tactics—just as they did in Haryana and Maharashtra,” he said.

Congress heavyweights expected to attend the meeting:

The Patna session is expected to witness the participation of over 170 key CWC members, including the Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states like Karnataka, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh.

Senior leaders of Congress, such as Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gahlot, Shashi Tharoor, and Sachin Pilot, are also likely to attend.
