Patna, July 26, 2025: Union Food Processing Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan on Saturday launched a sharp counterattack on Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, challenging him to go ahead with his boycott call and criticizing the opposition’s alleged lack of courage to contest elections independently. Responding to Tejashwi’s recent remarks about the Mahagathbandhan considering an election boycott over alleged voter list irregularities, Chirag said, “If you have the courage, then do it. Boycott once and show us.”
He accused the RJD and its allies of theatrics and fear-mongering instead of facing elections head-on.
Chirag Paswan claimed RJD can’t even contest alone:
Taking a direct dig at the Rashtriya Janata Dal, Chirag said, “RJD is the oldest party in Bihar, in power for 15 years, yet it doesn’t have the courage to contest alone. They’re in alliance with Congress, the oldest party in the country, which also doesn’t dare to go solo.”

Chirag Paswan contrasted this with his own 2020 electoral journey.
“I contested alone when my father passed away during the nomination phase. That takes courage,” he said, adding that parties afraid to contest alone cannot be expected to boycott elections either.
Opposition spreads fear, not facts:
Chirag Paswan also accused the opposition of spreading fear and misinformation.
“They tried to scare voters during the Lok Sabha elections, saying that if Modi returns, reservation will end, democracy will be finished, and the Constitution will be dismantled. It’s been a year now—whose reservation was taken away? Where has democracy ended?” Paswan asked.
Chirag Paswan also drew parallels between the ongoing controversy over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Voter List and earlier fears stoked over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
“Just like CAA, they are now spreading confusion about SIR. The opposition has mentally accepted defeat,” he added.
Political heat rises before polls:
Chirag Paswan’s remarks come at a time when the political climate in Bihar is intensifying in the run-up to the assembly elections.
His aggressive tone signals the NDA’s strategy to corner the opposition, especially the RJD-led Mahagathbandhan, on issues of credibility and unity.
Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav and the opposition continue to question the government over alleged electoral irregularities, law and order failures, and governance issues.
