Tejashwi Yadav promised to provide 200 power units free.
Patna, September 11: Tejashwi Yadav, the former deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader promised to provide 200 electricity units free of charge to every household if his government will form in Bihar after the 2025 assembly election.
Tejashwi Yadav sharply criticized the current Nitish Kumar-led NDA government over the high electricity tariff.
While speaking to the media persons in Samastipur, Tejashwi Yadav said that despite Bihar being a poor state, the electricity rate is the highest in the country.
“The higher electricity tariffs are causing significant hardship for residents, many of whom have complained about the cost and issues with smart meters reportedly charging higher rates. Bihar is a poor state but the electricity tariff is the highest in the country and it is unfair to poor people of the state,” he said.
Tejashwi Yadav’s outreach and promises are part of his broader strategy to address the local grievances and mobilize support ahead of the upcoming assembly election in 2025.
He reiterated his old commitment to the 2024 Lok Sabha election, promising to reduce electricity bills to zero.
“If my party comes to power after the 2025 assembly election in Bihar, I have planned to provide every household with 200 power units free of charge,” he said.
The statement of Tejashwi Yadav is strategically important in the context of the forthcoming assembly election in 2025. He knew that assembly elections always fight on the line of local issues of the common people and high power tariffs in Bihar is one of the big issues here.
Tejashwi Yadav wants to lure common people who are struggling with the increased cost of living, which includes not only high electricity tariffs but also elevated fuel prices like petrol diesel and CNG.
