Patna, September 6: Prashant Kishor, the curator of the Jan Suraj Campaign, has expressed serious concerns regarding the discomfort felt by a significant section of the Muslim community over the Wakf law recently introduced by the Central Government in Parliament.

He linked this unease to the broader legislative actions taken by the current BJP-led government, such as the Citizen Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens NRC), which he described as unjust towards the Muslim population.

“The people of the Muslim community have a great contribution to India’s independence. Despite that central government brought CAA, NRC, Wakf law and others which is unjust to the Muslim people,” he said.

Prashant Kishor’s remarks came amidst allegations from several RJD leaders including Rajya Sabha MP Manoj Jha and Lok Sabha MP Surendra Yadav, who accused him of acting as a “B-team” for BJP, suggesting that his actions are designed to benefit the saffron party in the upcoming 2025 Bihar assembly elections. Their leaders view Prashant Kishor’s political manoeuvres as potentially weakening the opposition’s stance against the BJP in Bihar.

Prashant Kishor, who has announced his intention to contest the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, also criticized the central government’s recent attempts to make substantial changes to the Wakf Board without adequately consulting the affected communities, implying that such actions contribute to the marginalization of the Muslim community.

In addition to his concerns about the Wakf law, Kishor addressed the issue of mob lynching, especially highlighting the lack of political support for the victims of the Muslim community.

“When a poor and helpless Muslim is brutally killed by a mob, very few political leaders, including those who seek votes from the Muslim community, stand up for the victim,” Prashant Kishor said.
