Prashant Kishor will allocate 40 tickets to Muslim in the assembly poll.
Patna, September 1: Prashant Kishor, the curator of Jan Suraj Campaign has decided to allocate at least 40 tickets to Muslim candidates in the upcoming assembly election in 2025.
While addressing a large gathering at Bapu Sabhagar in Patna on Sunday, Prashant Kishor emphasized that Jan Suraj aims to ensure representation for every community proportion to its population in the state.
“The number of Muslim leaders in Bihar assembly is 19 at present, despite the community constituting 18-19% of the state population. Jan Suraj is committed to changing it by offering at least 40 tickets to the Muslim candidates. Parties like JD (U), RJD and Congress have been taking the votes of the Muslims without providing adequate participation, rights and development of the community,” he said.
Prashant Kishor, in a bid to woo women, had already announced to allocate 40 tickets to female candidates in the forthcoming election as well.
Prashant Kishor further said the participation of Muslim community people in Jan Suraj would not be limited to ticket distribution or government formation but would extend to the party’s organizational structure as well.
“If 25 people are leading the Jan Suraj, four to five of them would be from the Muslim community. I am not asking for votes out of mere political convenience but is urging the community to vote for their children’s future and rights,” He said.
Prashant Kishor also mentioned his political journey and said he had supported Narendra Modi in 2014 and his subsequent support for parties opposing the BJP from 2015 to 2021. He argued for a revival of the ideology of Gandhi, Ambedkar, Lohia and JP.
“The BJP, with only 37% of the vote share, managed to form the government in Delhi three times, despite the country having an 80% Hindu population. This is an indication that 40% of Hindus voted against BJP, opposing the ideology of hatred politics,” Prashant Kishor said.
