Patna, August 20: Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in Bihar assembly slammed the Narendra Modi government on Tuesday, accusing it of attempting to finish the reservation for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and  Other Backward Classes (OBC) in the country.

While referring to a job advertisement dated August 7, 2023 by the Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB), which invited for applications to fill up 368 posts of Principal Scientist and Senior Scientist. Tejashwi Yadav said that those vacancies were unreserved.

“The advertisement notice specified that all these vacancies were “Unreserved” which means the reservation orders are not applicable on it,” Tejashwi Yadav said also shared the copy of the advertisement to media persons in Patna.

He said that this move by the ASRB reflects a broader strategy by the central government to dismantle the existing reservation system that protects the rights of marginalized communities in the country.

“After the lateral entry, the central government brought 368 vacancies in ASRB under the department of agricultural research and education and all posts were unreserved which means the reservation applied for the Dalit, backward class and tribal are not applicable here,” he said.

“The Narendra Modi government and Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), are systematically finishing reservation in the recruitments of agriculture department, thereby stripping marginalized communities of their rights. The central government is snatching the rights of Dalit, backward class and tribal people in the country. Can Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu, Eknath Shinde, Chirag Paswan, Anupriya Patel, Jayant Chaudhary and Jitan Ram Manjhi would speak anything on this issue. Why they are silent on it,” Yadav asked.

Tejashwi Yadav had released a written and video statement related to lateral entry in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), outlining 18 points of concern on Tuesday. He reiterated similar allegations about the government approach to reservations and lateral entry in UPSC on August 17 as well.

Tejashwi Yadav further asked the central government to release detailed data regarding recruitments made through lateral entry since 2018. He demanded transparency, specifically asking for information on how many individuals from SC, ST and OBC have been employed through this process.

“I am saying right from the beginning that they are anti-reservation people. They do not want the people of SC, ST and OBC to sit in Sachiwalay (Secretariat), they want them to sit in Sauchalay (Toilet),”  

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi called himself a son of backward caste and Shivraj Singh Chauhan is also claiming the same then why they are acting against the SC, ST and OBC,” Yadav said.
