Patna May 9: A team of Jogbani police in Araria district arrested a sharpshooter of Lawrence Bishnoi gang on Thursday.

Araria SP Amit Ranjan said that the accused Krishna Kumar was secretly living in Viratnagar Nepal. He came here to Jogbani to withdraw some cash from the ATM near railway station and nabbed by the district police.

The accused, Krishna Kumar alias Jay Prakash, is a resident of Bikaner, Rajasthan and is the most wanted Rajasthan. He has been absconding since last year.

“We have initially arrested him in an ATM fraud case. During interrogation, it appeared that he was a member of the dreaded Lawrence Bishnoi gang,” Amit Ranjan said.

“The arrested Krishna Kumar is the shooter of the dreaded Lawrence Bishnoi gang.” His father’s name is Shanta Ram, a resident of Jawahar Circle police station, Bikaner, Rajasthan. He is wanted in an extortion case with a G-group of hotels in Bikaner. He demanded Rs 1 crore from the owner of that hotel. At that time, he was a minor teenager,” said Amit Ranjan.

“Krishna Kumar was arrested in 2023 in that extortion case in Bikaner. At that time the accused had also fired several rounds outside that hotel. After his arrest, he was kept in the remand home of Bikaner but absconded from there and reached Viratnagar in Nepal. He was in contact with his gang members through an internet VPN. The gang members used to send him money through various apps and he used to come to Jogbani to withdraw cash,” the top cop of the district said.

“We have received a complaint from a shopkeeper after his bank account was freezed. Our team was closely monitoring various ATMs and he was a surprise catch of our team. The accused was arrested on the suspicion of ATM fraud and confessed his link with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang during the interrogation,” Amit Ranjan said. 

According to the information received, the arrested Krishna Kumar is also said to be the mastermind of cybercrime. While living in Nepal, he is also accused in many cases of ATM fraud in the border districts like Araria.

Araria Police has achieved great success albeit unknowingly. The accused is under interrogation. Police suspect that the arrested accused may have links with many countries including Dubai and Pakistan.

The Araria SP said that the Rajasthan police and Bihar STF were informed about his arrest. They will quiz him.

Lawrence Bishnoi Gang is in the news these days for many cases including firing at the house of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. Lawrence Bishnoi gang is considered the most dangerous in India. Several cases have been registered against members of this gang in Punjab, Rajasthan and Haryana.

The Bihar connection of Lawrence Bishnoi gang also came to light in the firing case at actor Salman Khan’s house. In this case, two youths, Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal, residents of Bettiah, Bihar, were arrested by Mumbai Police and currently both are in jail.
