Patna, April 4, 2026: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday continued his inspection of key infrastructure projects, visiting the under-construction Danapur—Bihta Elevated Road in Patna.
Upon reaching the construction site near Kanhauli, the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reviewed the progress of work and directed officials to ensure its timely completion while maintaining strict quality standards.
Nitish Kumar emphasized that both speed and quality must go hand in hand for such a crucial infrastructure project.
Nitish Kumar was accompanied by senior officers during the inspection:
During the inspection, Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Patna District Magistrate Dr. Tyagrajan SM, along with senior officials Deepak Kumar, Kumar Ravi, and Chandrashekhar Singh, were present.
Representatives of the executing agency also briefed the Chief Minister on the current status of the project.
After reviewing the updates, Nitish Kumar instructed officials to accelerate the pace of construction and ensure adherence to high-quality standards.
Nitish Kumar noted that the project would benefit lakhs of people by easing traffic congestion and significantly reducing travel time between Patna and Bihta.

The Danapur-Bihta Elevated Corridor, being constructed on NH-922, is a major four-lane project spanning approximately 25 kilometers and aims to strengthen connectivity to the upcoming Bihta Airport.
With an estimated cost of over Rs 1,969 crore, the project is expected to be completed by September 2026.
Notably, the corridor includes a 14.5-kilometer-long flyover, which is being regarded as one of the longest elevated roads in eastern India.
Once completed, the project is expected to accelerate regional development and provide much-needed relief from persistent traffic congestion in the area.
The 4-lane elevated corridor links Patna (Danapur) directly to the industrial hub of Bihta, cutting down travel time significantly.
The elevated corridor will connect key locations between Danapur and Koilwar:
The Danapur—Bihta Elevated Corridor will pass through key junctions such as Danapur Railway Station and Shiwala Chowk, providing seamless connectivity directly to the upcoming Bihta Airport and further extending up to Koilwar.
This alignment is expected to significantly streamline traffic movement along one of the busiest stretches in western Patna.
A major highlight of the project is the proposed 600-meter-long tunnel near the Bihta Air Force Station, which will facilitate smooth vehicular access to the Civil Enclave of the airport.
This addition is aimed at enhancing accessibility while ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow in the vicinity.
Once completed, the corridor will greatly ease commuting to premier institutions such as the Indian Institute of Technology Patna and the National Institute of Technology Patna, along with the under-construction Bihta Airport.

It will also reduce travel distance and time between Patna and its western regions, offering a major boost to daily commuters.
As part of the project, multiple access ramps will be developed at strategic points, including Danapur, Shiwala Mor, the Bihta Airport Links, and the Bihta-Sarmera Bypass, ensuring smooth entry and exit along the elevated stretch.
The project includes a 600-meter tunnel and dedicated ramps to connect with the proposed civil enclave at the Bihta Air Force Station, enhancing cargo movement and business travel.
Smooth travel experience for long-distance commuters:
Furthermore, upon completion, the corridor is expected to enhance long-distance connectivity as well, contributing to smoother travel between Delhi and Patna by improving access to major national highway networks.
The 25-kilometer Danapur-Bihta elevated corridor will significantly boost the Bihta industrial area by providing direct, high-speed connectivity to Patna. This infrastructure project will reduce traffic congestion, link key industrial, educational, and cargo hubs, and accelerate regional economic growth.

As part of the Patna-Buxar project, the corridor is considered a game-changer for accelerating industrial and residential development in the region.
The corridor aids in streamlining the movement of goods, connecting crucial economic nodes.
