Patna, October 8, 2025: Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) patron  Jitan Ram Manjhi on Wednesday reiterated his demand for 15 seats to contest in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

His statement comes shortly after Chirag Paswan of Lok Jansakti Party Ram Vilas (LJPRV) posted a message on social media, seen as an attempt to pressure senior NDA partners BJP and JDU ahead of the final seat-sharing agreement.

Taking to his official X account, Manjhi invoked a Mahabharata reference to make his demand poetic and pointed.

“If there’s justice, give half. If that’s a problem, give just 15 grams (Villages). Keep your land whole—we’ll happily eat it, we won’t raise a sword against our family,” he wrote.

Jitan Ram Manjhi’s party contested on 7 seats in 2020:

In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, HAM contested seven seats and won four—Imamganj, Barachatti, Tikari and Sikandara—achieving an impressive strike rate.

Initially, Jitan Ram Manjhi had demanded 40 seats, but has now scaled down his claim to 15 seats for the 2025 Assembly elections.

This time, HAM is particularly eyeing on Sherghati and Atri seats.

Seat-sharing within NDA in the final stage:

Seat-sharing talks within the NDA are currently in the final stages but remain unsolved.

Smaller allies like LJPRV led by Chirag Paswan, Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) led by Upendra Kushwaha and HAM led by Jitan Ram Manjhi—are all demanding a respectable share of seats.

Sources said that Chirag Paswan has been pushing for around 40 seats, and Upendra Kushwaha 10 seats, though the BJP and JDU are reluctant to offer that many to the smaller allies.

As per the initially seat-sharing formula given by the NDA senior allies, JDU wants to contest on 103 seats, BJP on 102 seats, LJPRV on 26, HAM on 7, and RLM on 5 seats.

A high-level NDA meeting is expected to be held in Patna soon to finalize the seat-sharing formula.
