Patna May 30: Hot and humid conditions are turning out deadly for the people of Bihar these days. The temperature has reached beyond 45 degrees Celsius in the majority of the districts. Due to severe heat waves, 19 persons have lost their lives in the last 24 hours.
An ASI and a constable posted on election duty are also among the dead. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert of severe heat waves for the next two days.
In Nalanda, three persons have lost their lives due to heat in the last 24 hours in the district. The deceased included a teacher, a home guard Jawan and a farmer. The deceased home guard Jawan has been identified as Ramesh Prasad (54), teacher Vijay Kumar Sinha and farmer Surendra Prasad.
“Vijay Kumar Sinha, a resident of Mohan Chak village under Islampur block, was posted at Tharthari Middle School. He looked ill due to heat stroke. He was taken to the hospital where he died,” said Umda Kumari, principal of the school.
In Buxar, three people have died in the last 24 hours in the district On Wednesday, the body of a youth who found on the roadside in the Sikraul police station area. Local people said that he died due to sunstroke. There were no marks of injury marks anywhere on his body. Late at night, a BMP Jawan died in the Nawanagar police station area. On Thursday, a worker of Itadhi PHC was brought to Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
“The BMP Jawan was posted in the Gorkha Regiment. His health deteriorated during the flag march. After which he was admitted to the hospital. Where the doctors declared him dead,” said Manish Kumar, SP of Buxar.
In Rohtas, three people including a sub-inspector have died in the district too. Sub-inspector Devnath Ram posted in the police line at Dehri in Rohtas. He became a victim of heatstroke. He was a resident of Bihiya in Bhojpur. Apart from this, an elderly man also died due to a heat stroke in the Kargahar Badhari market and a woman also died due to a heatstroke near Kali Asthan under the town police station in Sasaram.
In Bhojpur, three persons died due to scorching heat in Bhojpur district as well. News of death due to heatstroke has come to light in Gajrajganj, Barhara and Jagdishpur. The deceased have been identified as Chandrama Giri (80), Gupta Nath Sharma (60) and Keshav Prasad Singh (30).
The fierce form of heat has also been seen in West Champaran. Two people have died here. A 40-year-old unidentified person has died in Mahanakuli village under Chanpatia police station. Besides him, a 16-year-old teenage boy named Golu died due to a heat stroke in the Majra village of Ramnagar.
A tourist going to Nepal died due to a heat stroke in Gopalganj. The deceased Somnath Agra (60) was a resident of Nashik, Maharashtra. Head Constable Nikku Ahuja, who came from Arunachal Pradesh for election duty in Arwal, died. He was on duty at a government high school located at Rampur Chauram village in Arwal district.
An Anganwadi assistant died due to heat stroke in Sheikhpura and a farmer died in the same way in Begusarai. One more person died due to heat stroke in Aurangabad.
In the majority of the cases, the district administration has not confirmed the death due to the heat stroke as their postmortem reports have not come yet.
