
Patna, May 31, 2024: With preparation complete for the seventh and final phase of polling in Bihar, a total of 134 candidates are contesting across eight constituencies in the state.
According to the Election Commission, among them are 122 male and 12 female candidates.
Of the total candidates, 23 represent national and state-recognized parties, 68 belong to other regional parties, while 43 are independent candidates.
BSP has 8 candidates in Bihar for the final phase:
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has fielded the maximum number of candidates (8), contesting on all eight seats, followed by the BJP (5 seats), RJD (3 seats), CPI-ML (2 seats), Congress (2 seats) and JDU (2 seats). Polling will begin at 7 Am on Saturday (June 1) across all eight constituencies.
Over 1.62 crores electors in Bihar for the seventh phase:
A total of 1,62,04,594 voters—including 85,01620 male, 77,02,559 female and 415 third-gender voters—will decide the fate of the candidates.
Among all constituencies, Nalanda has the highest number of candidates (29), followed by Patliputra (22), Patna Sahib (17), Jehanabad (15), Arrah (14), Buxar (14), Karakat (13), and Sasaram (10)—the only SC-reserved seat in this phase.
Patna Sahib tops the list in voter strength with 22,92,045 electors—including 12,08,000 male, 10,83034 female, and 111 third-gender voters.
Close behind is Nalanda, with 22,88,240 voters, including 11,96,965 male, 10,91,206 female, and 69 third-gender.
Similarly, Arrah Lok Sabha constituency has 21,65,574 voters, including 11,51,480 male, 10,14,061 female and 33 third-gender.
Patliputra Lok Sabha constituency has 20,73,685 voters, including 10,89,278 male, 9,84,351 female, and 56 third-gender.
Buxar Lok Sabha constituency has a total number of 19,23,164 electors, including 10,06,224 male, 9,16,923 female and 17 third-gender voters.
In Sasaram, the total eligible voters are 19,10,368, including 9,96,416 males, 9,13,925 females, and 27 third-genders.
In Karakat Lok Sabha constituency, the total number of electors is 18,81,191, including 9,80,045 males, 9,01,076 females, and 70 third-gender.
In Jehanabad, the total number of eligible voters is 16,70,327, including 8,73,212 male, 797,083 female and 32 third-gender.
To conduct the polling, the Election Commission will deploy 27,947 ballot units, 19961 control units, and 21,624 VVPATs across the constituencies.
Counting of votes for all phases in Bihar and the rest of the country will take place on June 4.
