Upendra Kushwaha met with CM Nitish Kumar ahead of LS poll 2024.

Patna: Upendra Kushwaha, the national president of Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) met with Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar in latter residence in Patna on Wednesday.

“Today, I met with my elder brother CM Nitish Kumar in his residence and took his blessings,” Kushwaha said while uploading a photograph on social media platform X on Wednesday.

This was the first meeting of these two leaders after Upendra Kushwaha resigned from JD-U on February 20, 2023.

RLM led by Upendra Kushwaha is an alliance partner of NDA in Bihar. As per the seat sharing formula of NDA, the Karakat seat was given to Upendra Kushwaha to contest the Lok Sabha election 2024.

Upendra Kushwaha, through this meeting, tried to give a message to opposition parties that he and Nitish Kumar are united and will give a tough challenge to the candidates of INDIA bloc on the Karakat seat. During the 2019 Lok Sabha election, JD-U candidate Mahabali Singh defeated Upendra Kushwaha in this seat. Upendra Kushwaha was the candidate of his own party Rashtriya Lok Samata Party (RLSP) on Karakat seat. After the 2020 assembly election Upendra Kushwaha merged his party in JD-U. However, he again separated from JD-U On February 20, 2023 and formed Rashtriya Lok Janata Dal (RLJD). As JD-U objected to the name of Upendra Kushwaha’s party RLJD in the election commission, it was given the new name Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM).

Recently, Upendra Kushwaha slammed the JD-U leaders for breaking his party’s state president Ramesh Kushwaha. JD-U has given the ticket to Ramesh Kushwaha’s wife Vijaylaxmi Kushwaha to contest the Lok Sabha poll from Siwan.
