Two female NEET exam candidates reached Patna’s EOU office for questioning

EOU had summoned 9 candidates in connection with the NEET question paper leak case. The two candidates were looking nervous when they reached the office of EOU.

Patna June 19: After the notice served by the Economic Offence Unit (EOU) of Bihar police, two female candidates who were suspected to be part of the NEET question paper leak case, reached the EOU office with their parents on Wednesday afternoon.

EOU has formed a Special Investigating Team comprising 9 officers who are questioning them. It is believed that many important revelations can be made during their interrogation.

When asked about the purpose of the visit, one of them said that she had received a notice from EOU. That is why she came here. Their parents also looked worried.

“I came from Danapur, my center was in Indirapuram Public School near Saguna Mor. A notice came to me to appear before EOU for questioning regarding the NEET question paper leak case. Hence I came here,” she said.

The EOU of Bihar police received the roll code and roll number of 13 candidates and 4 of them have already been arrested. Notice was issued to the remaining 9 candidates. Two out of 9 candidates and their parents reached the EOU office for the questioning on Tuesday and one of the parents took the name of a MP. However, the EOU has not disclosed the name of the MP. On Wednesday, two female students also reached the EOU office for interrogation.

In this case, the suspicious role of a minister is coming to the fore. On May 4, Danapur Municipal Council’s junior engineer and the mastermind of the paper leak, Sikandar Yadavendu, had kept his brother-in-law’s wife and his son in a government guest house. Brother-in-law’s son was also a NEET candidate. Two more candidates stayed in the guest house on the same day.

EOU found a number and “Mantri Ji” written in the diary of the guest house. Now who is the minister will be revealed after interrogation?
The examination of the NEET was held on May 5 and the examination mafias allegedly obtained the question paper a day earlier.
Shortly after the exam, the paper leak case came to light. After this, the police arrested many solvers and candidates from many districts of Bihar. However, some were let off. During the investigation, EOU got the roll codes of 13 candidates out of which 4 have been arrested. Notice has been issued to 9 candidates for questioning.

EOU has arrested 13 persons in this case including 6 exam mafias, 4 candidates and 3 parents. In this, those 4 candidates have said in their statements that they had received the question paper on May 4, which was made to memorize in Learn Play School located in the jurisdiction of Ram Krishna Nagar police station in Patna. The question paper that came in the examination on 5 May was exactly the same as the question paper received on 4 May.

EOU had found burnt question papers in Learn Play School. Out of these burnt question papers, EOU collected 74 questions at that place and in this, police found three copies of booklet number 6136488. They have also found the roll numbers and roll codes of 13 candidates and hence the pendulum of the investigation swung toward them.

One surprising aspect in this case is that the NEET result, which was earlier scheduled to come on 14 June, came on the day of the Lok Sabha election results on June 4. The most surprising thing is that 67 candidates scored a full 720 out of 720 marks in the examination. Similarly, the number of students scoring more than 700 marks was in the thousands.

The cut-off of the result also went up and out of 24 lakh candidates, more than 13 lakh candidates were successful. In this, grace marks were randomly given to 1563 students while there was no such point mentioned in the notification of the exam. In such a situation, NTA said in the court that the grace marks of 1563 students would be canceled and the exam is going to be held again for them on 23 June.
However, the petitioner is not satisfied with just canceling the grace marks. Be it the teachers preparing for NEET or the students, they are demanding to conduct the exam again. Everyone is raising the question on NTA referring to Bihar’s EOU investigation angle and demanding cancellation of the paper.
