Two alleged accused confessed their involvement in the NEET question paper leak case
Patna June 16: Two alleged accused including an examination mafia confessed their involvement in the NEET question paper leak case, an official of the Economic Offence Unit (EOU) said on Sunday.
EOU of Bihar police has constituted a 9-member Special Investigating Team (SIT) to probe the NEET question paper leak case.
EOU has arrested 13 persons including 6 examination mafias, 4 students and 3 parents in connection with the alleged question paper leak case. Among them, two alleged accused named Sikandar Prasad Yadav (56), a Junior Engineer in Municipal Council Danapur confessed his role in the paper leak. Besides him, a candidate named Ayush Kumar also confessed that he was made to memorize the question paper a day before the exam.
The examination of NEET was held on May 5 and examination mafias obtained the question paper a day earlier on May 4.
“Two persons named Amit and Nitish had obtained the question paper on May 4. They went with the question papers and answers to Learn Play School located in the jurisdiction of Ramakrishna Nagar police station area. There were 25 to 30 NEET candidates already there. All were made to memorize the exam question paper and its answers till 9:00 am on May 5,” Sikardar Yadav said in his confession.
He also confessed that all the candidates were dropped off directly to the exam centers by car after 9:00 am.
According to an official, the gang in which Sikandar Yadav was part of it, had set the deal with every candidate in Rs 40 lakh and the share of Sikandar Yadav was Rs 8 lakh.
During the investigation, SIT found some names who were part of the solver gang. The SIT officials are looking for exam mafia Sanjeev Mukhiya of Nagar Nausa in Nalanda district, Chintu alias Baldev of Karayaparsurai of Nalanda district, Pintu of Hilsa in Nalanda district, Rakesh Ranjan alias Rocky, Ashutosh of Didarganj of Patna district, Nitish Yadav, Manish Prakash and Nitish Patel alias Abhimanyu. SIT is conducting raids at their premises to nab them.
It also appeared in the investigation that the question paper of the NEET exam with answers was available on Chintu’s mobile phone.
Earlier on Saturday, NTA gave information about 11 candidates including 7 girls to EOU. All of them are residents of different areas of Bihar and it is suspected that they are associated with the solver gang. EOU served the notice to them and asked them to join the probe on Monday and Tuesday. Those 11 candidates will join the probe with their parents in the EOU office in Patna.
