Patna, April 19, 2024: As polling for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections began in Bihar on Friday, a newlywed couple made headlines when they arrived at a polling booth in Sheikhpura to cast their votes.
The newlywed couple marriage of Susmita Kumari and Pradeep Kumar was solemnized on Thursday night, and the very next morning, the bride accompanied her groom to polling booth number 1941 under the Sheikhpura city council in the Jamui Lok Sabha constituency.
Since Susmita is a resident of Shiekpura, she exercised her franchise.
Election officers welcomed the newlywed couple at the polling booth:
Their presence drew the attention of polling officials and security personnel at the booth, who welcomed the couple warmly.
A photograph of the duo was also uploaded to the official website of the Election Commission of Bihar.
The main contest in Jamui between the LJPR and the RJD candidates:
In Jamui, the main contest is between Arun Bharti of LJPR and Archan Ravidas of RJD.
Polling began at 7 am and will continue until 6 pm, except in Naxal-affected areas, where voting will end at 4 pm.
Elections are being conducted peacefully across the four constituencies of Jamui, Nawada, Aurangabad, and Gaya.
