Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized Rahul Gandhi over his anti-quota remarks.
Patna September 21: Ravi Shankar Prasad, the former law minister and BJP MP from Patna Sahib on Saturday, launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi following his controversial statement on the reservation.
The statement of Ravi Shankar Prasad came ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the USA, where PM Modi is scheduled for a bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden.
PM Modi, on his official X handle, said, “I will be on a visit to the USA, where I will take part in various programs. I will attend the Quad Summit being hosted by President Biden at his hometown Wilmington. I look forward to the deliberations at the Summit. I will also be having a bilateral meeting with President Biden. In New York, I will be attending the Summit of the Future. I will also be addressing a community program in the city.”
Ravi Shankar Prasad came to the BJP office in Patna to join the protest organized by the party’s SC ST wing of Bihar. During the protest, leaders like Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Vijay Kumar Sinha, cabinet minister Nitin Nabin, Nikhil Anand, and other senior leaders of the BJP Bihar unit were present.
During the protest, Ravi Shankar Prasad condemned Rahul Gandhi’s comment about reconsidering the reservation system.
“Rahul Gandhi’s statement about ending reservation, while pleading to save the Constitution, is highly condemnable. Congress has always been against reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and OBCs. SC, ST and OBC communities are very angry with Rahul Gandhi’s anti-reservation statement,” Prasad said.
BJP was, is and will always be a supporter of reservation for SC, ST and OBC. The biggest supporter of SC, ST and OBC reservation is the Bharatiya Janata Party. Narendra Modi has been the Prime Minister for the last 10 years and under his leadership, the Constitution is completely safe and will always remain safe in the future,” Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
The SC/ST wings of the BJP gathered outside the party’s office in Patna, accusing Rahul Gandhi of disrespecting the Constitution, which was drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and mocking Indian democracy on foreign soil.
Vijay Kumar Sinha, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, also criticized Rahul Gandhi that despite his constitutional position, Gandhi advocating for the removal of reservation on foreign soil was extremely unfortunate and disregarded the country’s Constitution.
“Rahul Gandhi should either issue a public apology or resign from the constitutional post he is holding, on moral grounds for his remarks on a global platform,” Sinha said.
Nitin Nabin, the cabinet minister of Bihar, said, “During the Lok Sabha election, Rahul Gandhi was roaming with the copies of the constitution and supporting the reservation and constitution. Now, he is acting just the opposite of his stance. It is against the constitution and reservations of the country. It is a tradition of the Gandhi family. He is pretending to have reservations. His intention is visible.”

Rahul Gandhi, while speaking at Georgetown University, suggested that reservation might be reconsidered only once equal opportunities are available to all in India, a condition he believes is not yet met. His remarks have sparked significant controversy, especially among political opponents, who view this as an attack on the constitutional provision of reservation.
