Patna, June 24, 2024: People in south and central Bihar will have to wait at least two more days for relief from the scorching heat and high humidity.
According to the Patna Meteorological Centre, the monsoon has not progressed beyond Raxaul in East Champaran. As a result, heatwave conditions have become active again and are expected to persist for the next one to two days. The Met department has predicted rainfall only after June 26.
Monsoon will bring relief for people in several districts of Bihar:
A senior Met official said the monsoon is likely to advance into the state in the next three to four days.
Until then, heatwave conditions will prevail, especially in the southern and south-western parts of Bihar.
The Met office has issued a heatwave alert for June 24 for districts including Bhojpur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Kaimur, Jehanabad, Gaya, Patna and Arwal. Maximum temperatures in these areas are expected to remain between 38 degrees Celsius and 42 degrees Celsius. High humidity is further aggravating discomfort.
