Opposition targeted Lalu Yadav over Tej Pratap’s expulsion, rakes up Aishwarya Rai row.

Patna, May 25, 2025: The dramatic expulsion of Tej Pratap Yadav from both the Rastriya Janata Dal (RJD) and the Yadav family by party chief Lalu Yadav has triggered a sharp backlash from opposition leaders, who accused Lalu Yadav of hypocrisy and selective morality.

The incident has not only stirred political tension but also revived the Aishwarya Rai divorce controversy, raising serious questions about the RJD’s internal values and public accountability.

Neeraj Kumar asked Lalu Yadav: “Where was this morality during Aishwarya’s humiliation?”

JDU MLC and chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar criticized Lalu Prasad for what he called a double standard in moral conduct.

Referring to Tej Pratap’s former wife, he asked: “Where was your moral ground when Aishwarya Rai was thrown out of your home? She is the granddaughter of Daroga Prasad Rai and daughter of senior politician Chandrika Rai. You didn’t care about their dignity then. Her life was ruined, and you talk about social justice now?”

He also accused Tejashwi Yadav of playing a double game, saying: “While Lalu Yadav expels Tej Pratap, Tejashwi still refers to him as his elder brother. Are they playing a game of cat and mouse for public sympathy?”

BJP’s Nikhil Anand asked Lalu Yadav: “What about Aishwarya’s dignity?”

Nikhil Anand, national general secretary of the BJP OBC wing, echoed similar sentiments and called out Lalu Prasad Yadav’s delayed concern for family honor.”

“You removed Tej Pratap to salvage your family’s face and your party’s image. But where was this concern when your entire family left Aishwarya Rai to suffer alone?” Anand asked.

He continued: “The dignity of the Yadav community was auctioned when your family treated Aishwarya this way. Why was she forced into a marriage if everyone in the family, including your brother-in-law Sadhu Yadav knew about Tej Pratap’s behavior?” Anand demanded a public explanation and accountability: “You expelled your son to cleanse your image, but what will you do about the prestige lost by Aishwarya and her family?”

Prashant Kishor: “This is a family drama, not Bihar’s concern”:

Political strategist and Jan Suraj Party’s chief Prashant Kishor also reacted to the development, but took a different stance, dismissing the issue as personal theatrics.

“Who Lalu Prasad keeps or expels from his family is not Bihar’s concern. He still wants Tejashwi Yadav to be the next CM. If he truly cares about leadership, let him announce that the most capable person from the Yadav community not just his son will be the party’s face. If he does that, we will end our campaign and support him.”

Lalu Prasad Yadav expelled his son Tej Pratap Yadav from RJD and the family for six years, citing “irresponsible behavior” and conduct that goes against family values and Sanskaar.

The move followed a string of controversies involving Tej Pratap, including viral photos and videos with a woman identified as Anushka Yadav, which reportedly embarrassed the family.
