Mukesh Sahani criticized the BJP over Nishad’s remarks and demanded action on community promises.

Patna, May 21, 2025: Former cabinet minister and Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) Chief Mukesh Sahani launched a sharp attack on the BJP following a controversial statement by BJP Bihar state president Dilip Jaiswal, who remarked that the Nishad Community “would not carry the bags of people coming from Mumbai.”
Reacting strongly, Mukesh Sahani himself a Bollywood set designer who hails from the Nishad community of Bihar criticized the NDA for what he termed as “20 years of neglect” towards his community.
“If any community fights for its future generation and society, they are called bag carriers.
The people of the Nishad community within the BJP are the real ones carrying the BJP’s bags,” Sahani retorted.
Mukesh Sahani questions the timing of the Nishad Commission:
He pointed out that despite the NDA being in power in Bihar for two decades, the Nishad Commission, which is supposed to address the concerns of the community, has not been formed.
“Now they talk of farming a Nishad Commission, but what were they doing all these years?” Sahani asked.

Mukesh Sahani reiterated his party’s demand for reservation for the Nishad community in Bihar, accusing the BJP of betraying past promises.
“Home Minister Amit Shah had promised to make a Nishad community leader an MLC and a minister. What happened to that promise? This is just another attempt to mislead the community,” he said.
He added, “If the BJP gives reservation, the Nishad community will support them. If not, we will fight for our rights and the future of our coming generations.”
Grand Alliance Unity and EBC leadership:
Speaking about the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, Sahani confirmed that seat-sharing talks within the Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) are smooth.
“There is no seat fight. We have enough seats to offer even new allies,” he said, signaling openness to expanding the alliance.
In a strong political message, Sahani stated: “This time, the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar will be a son of the Extremely Backward Class (EBC).”
The Grand Alliance (Mahagathbandhan) in Bihar currently comprises RJD, Congress, CPI-ML, CPI, CPI(M), and VIP. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) remains the largest party within the bloc.
