Land for job case, Rouse Avenue court granted bail to Lalu Prasad and others.

New Delhi October 7, 2024: In the Land for Job case, the Rouse Avenue Court has granted bail to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his two sons Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav on Monday.

They were granted bail after submitting a bail bond of Rs 1 lakh each. The next hearing for the case is scheduled for October 25, 2024.

After securing bail, Tejashwi Yadav—who is also the leader of the opposition in the Bihar assembly—expressed that the case is politically motivated.

“BJP leaders allegedly framed him and his family members in the case. We are innocent,” Yadav said.

According to Tejashwi Yadav, the case lacks substance and is an attempt to deliberately target them.

The court had summoned eight individuals including Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members, to appear in connection with the land for job case.

Apart from Lalu Prasad Yadav, Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav, Akhileshwar Singh, Hazari Prasad Rai, Sanjay Rai, Dharmendra Singh and Kiran Devi were also summoned in this land for job case.

It marked the first court appearance for Tej Pratap Yadav in this case. Previously, Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, daughter Misa Bharti, Tejashwi Yadav and others have appeared in court multiple times about this case.

The land for job case pertains to allegations that during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s tenure as Union Railway Minister between 2004 to 2009, several individuals were allegedly given jobs in exchange for lands that were transferred to his family members and associates.

The case is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
