Lalu Yadav was criticized by Sanjay Jaiswal and Jitan Ram Manjhi over Tej Pratap’s 6-year expulsion.

Patna, May 25, 2025: The political storm surrounding Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of RJD chief Lalu Yadav, continues to intensify as sharp reactions pour in from across the political spectrum.

After Lalu Yadav expelled Tej Pratap Yadav from both the RJD and the family for 6 years following a viral photo-video controversy, prominent leaders such as BJP Lok Sabha MP Sanjay Jaiswal, Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and TMC MP Shatrughan Sinha have questioned the timing and intent behind the move.

Sanjay Jaiswal said Lalu Yadav ruined three lives for political gain:

BJP Lok Sabha MP from Bettiah Sanjay Jaiswal accused Lalu Yadav and Rabru Devi of orchestrating Tej Pratap’s marriage with Aishwarya Rai, despite knowing about his long-term relationship with Anishka Yadav.

He alleged the marriage was a political alliance designed to elevate the family’s image by connecting with the respective lineage of former Bihar CM Daroga Prasad Rai.

“They destroyed the lives of three people—Tej Pratap, Aishwarya and Anushka—all for family prestige. Now, conveniently, Lalu Yadav has expelled Tej Pratap citing dignity while a divorce case is still pending in court,” Jaiswal said.

He further said that the manner in which Aishwarya was allegedly treated in the Lalu Yadav household could warrant criminal proceedings and that authorities should take cognizance of the matter.

Jitan Ram Manjhi: Where was this morality when Aishwarya was mistreated?

Jitan Ram Manjhi, Union MSME Minister echoed Jaiswal’s outrage and accused Lalu Yadav of double standards.

When Rabri Devi allegedly mistreated Aishwarya and threw her out, where were these values and dignity then,” Majhi asked.

You should’ve expelled the people from the party and the family, not now when your son’s photos go viral,” he said.

In a fiery post on social media, Manjhi warned that the women of Bihar would not forget Aishwarya’s humiliation and vowed political consequences in the upcoming election.

If Tej Pratap was already in a relationship, who gave the Lalu Yadav family the right to sacrifice a girl’s life for political matchmaking? Will they do the same with Anushka Yadav now,” he said.   

Tejashwi distances himself: “Personal life is separate”:

Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav, the younger brother and Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, sought to separate political responsibility from family drama.

“Personal life and political life are different. Whatever the national president our father has said through his tweets is his viewpoint. We cannot tolerate such things and don’t support them,” Tejashwi told reporters.

He emphasized that the controversy surrounding Tej Pratap’s photos came to light through the media and that it is up to Tej Pratap to make his own decisions moving forward.

Shatrughan Sinha reacts: “shocking episode”:

TMC MP and actor Shatrughan Sinha, a long-time associate of the Yadav family, expressed shock over the developments:

“This is a shocking episode. I have known the Lalu family for years. This turn of events is very unfortunate.”

Sinha did not take sides but acknowledged the seriousness of the public allegations and growing scrutiny around the family.

Background: A controversial marriage and viral fallout:

Tej Pratap Yadav married Aishwarya Rai, granddaughter of Daroga Rai, in May 2018, in what was seen as a strategic political union. But the relationship turned sour almost immediately. Aishwarya alleged mental and physical abuse and a divorce case has been pending in court since then.

Now, with viral pictures and videos of Tej Pratap with Anushka Yadav, whom he claims to have been with for 12 years, the Yadav family has come under intense public and political pressure.

Tej Pratap initially claimed his Facebook account was hacked but further leaks led Lalu Prasad to take the unprecedented decision to expel his own son.

Meanwhile, Aishwarya Rai’s mother, Poonam Rai, told the press:

“We already knew all this about Tej Pratap. Everyone knows it. There’s nothing new here.”
