Patna July 30: RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav expressed concern over the frequent accident on Tuesday. His statement came in the wake of a massive train tragedy in Jharkhand’s Chakradharpur division claimed 2 lives and over 20 passengers injured.
While uploading a post on his official X handle, Lalu Prasad Yadav said: “Seven train accidents had occurred within 13 days in the country. Regular train accidents are a matter of great concern. The government is not even taking basic steps to ensure safety in trains.”
“Indian Railways has become so unsafe that before boarding the trains, passengers pray that this journey should not be their last journey. Railway coaches have become like moving coffins,” Lalu Prasad Yadav said.
Earlier, The Hawrah-Mumbai Mail (12810) collided with a goods train at Barabambo railway station under Chakradharpur division in Jharkhand on Tuesday morning which resulted in the deaths of two passengers and injuries to over 20 others.
The injured persons were rescued from the spot and taken to the nearby hospitals for treatment.
During the mishap, around 18 coaches of Hawrah-Mumbai mail derailed around 3. 45 AM on Tuesday.

Earlier, on Monday, the Bihar Sampark Kranti express train was split into two parts in Bihar’s Samastipur district.
On July 19, the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh express train derailed in Uttar Pradesh Gonda district as well claimed 4 lives.
These train frequent accidents have raised significant concern about the safety measures in place within the Indian railway, leading to criticism from political leaders and the public alike.
