India reached in the ICC T20 World Cup Semi-final, beating Australia by 24 runs.

New Delhi, June 25, 2024: India entered the semi-finals of the ICC men’s T20 World Cup, defeating Australia by 24 runs in St Lucia on Monday.

Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first. Indian team put up 205/5—built around a blistering 92 off 41 balls by skipper Rohit Sharma. He smashed 8 fours and 8 sixes and tore into Mitchell Starc in the second over, taking 20 runs off it.

India’s player Virat Kohli fell for a duck:

Indian team was off to a shaky start as Virat Kohli fell for a duck, pulling Josh Hazlewood straight to Tim David at deep mid-wicket. But Rohit counter-attacked from the other end, scoring all around the wicket.

Suryakumar Yadav contributed 31 off 16, Shiyam Dube 28 off 22, while Hardik Pandya (27 off 17) and Ravindra Jadeja provided the finishing touches.

Australia falls short:

Chasing 206, Australia lost David Warner early for 6. Travis Head however, continued his good form against the men in blue hitting 76 off 43 balls (9×4, 4×6). He and Mitchell Marsh (37off28) added 81 for the second wicket before Marsh was brilliantly caught by Axar Patel off Kuldeep Yadav.

Glenn Maxwell threatened briefly with 20 off 12—including two reverse sweeps for a six and a four off Jadeja—before he was bowled by Kuldeep trying to slog across the line.

Australia eventually managed only 181/7 in 20 overs.
