Former state president of Congress Bihar unit Anil Sharma resigned from the party on Sunday.

Patna: Congress Bihar unit took a big jolt on Sunday after its former state president Anil Sharma resigned from the primary membership of the party.

Sharma explains the reasons for his resignation from the party.

“Due to the joining of Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav in Congress, I have resigned from the Congress. I have no hope from the party after the entry of history sheeter like Pappu Yadav. He is facing allegations of various criminal cases. Now, Rahul Gandhi is shaking hands with him,” Sharma said.

“Pappu Yadav was making efforts to join Congress for a long time. When I was the state president of the Congress party, he tried several times to join the party but we objected to it. Now, Congress leaders had called him in the party’s office in New Delhi and given the membership. Moreover, they are presenting him like a star in Bihar. It is not possible for me to stay in the party and hence I have resigned from the primary membership and sent my resignation to the party’s national president,” Sharma said.

“When Rahul Gandhi was the national general secretary of the party, he brought a rule to not give any post to a leader who was facing criminal charges. I want to ask Rahul Gandhi why Pappu Yadav was given the membership,” Sharma said.

Anil Sharma also said that the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi deeply damaged the party.

“Congress leaders participated in the Samvidhan Bachao rally in Ramlila ground New Delhi but the internal constitution of the party was finished ever since Sonia Gandhi took over the charge of the Congress. At present, Mallikarjun Kharge is a remote control national president of the party. He has no control over the party. Rahul Gandhi is taking all the decisions,” he said.

“Congress has lost the political ground ever since it had made an alliance with RJD. Such an alliance turned suicidal for the party and now it has completely surrendered before RJD,” Sharma said.
