ECI recorded 14.55% polling in the first two hours of polling in Bihar.

Patna, November 11, 2025: Polling in the second phase of the Bihar Assembly elections picked up pace in the opening hours, with the ECI recording 14.55% voter turnout till 9 am.

ECI recorded the highest polling in Gaya:

Among districts, Gaya registered the highest polling with 15.95%, followed by Kishanganj at 15.81%, Jamui at 15.77%, Purnea at 15.54% and Aurangabad at 15.43%.

Besides them, polling recorded in Araria is 15.34%, West Champaran is 15.04%, East Champaran is 14.11%, Sheohar is 13.94%, Sitamarhi is 13.49%, Madhubani is 13.25%, Supaul is 14.85%, Katihar is 13.77%, Bhagalpur is 13.43%, Banka is 15.14%, Kaimur is 15.08%, Rohtas is 14.16%, Arwal is 14.95%, Jehanabad is 13.81%, and Nawada is 13.46%.

A total of 1302 candidates are in the fray of this election, including 1165 men, 136 women and 1 third-gender candidate.

The main contest is between the NDA and the Grand Alliance, though in some seats, AIMIM and Jan Suraj Party are also in the race.

Prominent leaders like BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal cast his vote in Kishanganj, independent MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav in Purnea, BJP MP Dilip Jaiswal in Bettiah, and Nitish Mishra in Madhubani.

Of the 122 constituencies going to the polls, 101 are general, 19 SC-reserved and 2 ST-reserved.

According to Election Commission data, 3,70,13,556 electors are enrolled for this phase, including 10,21,812 new voters.

The number of male voters stands at 1,95,56,899, including 5,28,954 newly-added names post Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Female voters total is 1,70,68,572, including 4,92,939 newly-added electors.

There are 943 voters registered as third gender, including 90 new inclusions in the voter list.

A total of 7,69,356 electors in the age group of 18-19 will be voting in the Assembly election for the first time.

ECI has set up over 45,000 polling stations in the second phase:

The ECI has set up 45,399 polling stations, including 5326 in urban and 40,073 in rural areas. Of these, 595 are women-managed, 91 PwD-managed, and 316 are model polling stations.

All booths have webcasting facilities.

As per ECI directives, 1650 companies of the central armed forces have been deployed across the state to ensure peaceful polling.

Drone and CCTV cameras are being used for surveillance, and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) have been pressed into service for emergencies.
