Patna, November 28, 2025: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) suffered a major political setback on Friday after its Bihar state in-charge Anil Kumar resigned from both his post and the party’s primary membership, citing personal reasons.
Anil Kumar steps down from the BSP due to personal reasons:
His abrupt exit has triggered political discussions in Bihar and sparked debate within the party’s organizational structure.
In his resignation letter to party president Mayawati, Anil Kumar wrote that due to unavoidable personal reasons, he is unable to devote adequate time and attention to party responsibilities.
Therefore, he is stepping down from the post of Bihar state in-charge as well as the party’s primary membership.
He also thanked the leadership for the support, affection, and guidance provided during his tenure.
Anil Kumar’s resignation is being seen as a significant blow to the BSP in Bihar, especially at a time when the party is already struggling after the assembly election performance.
According to party insiders, a review meeting was held two days ago in the presence of national coordinator Akash Anand, where questions were reportedly raised about Anil Kumar’s working style.
Anil Kumar, however, had claimed that attempts were being made by the ruling party to poach the BSP’s sole MLA Satish Yadav, suggesting that internal and external pressures may have contributed to the situation.
The party has not yet issued an official statement on the resignation.
Sources suggest that BSP leadership may soon take a major decision regarding the appointment of a new Bihar state in-charge.
This development comes at a time when political equations in Bihar are once again shifting.
BSP Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Gautam recently claimed that the party’s vote share in Bihar has increased compared to the previous election and that the BSP has strong potential for future expansion in the state.
Party has one MLA in Bihar:
In the recently concluded Bihar Assembly election, the BSP secured one seat of Ramgarh in Kaimur district, where the party’s candidate Satish Yadav defeated the BJP candidate by a narrow margin of just 30 votes.
After his victory, Yadav had met party chief Mayawati and sought her blessings.
