Patna, June 13, 2024: The Bihar government on Thursday carried out a major administrative reshuffle, transferring several IAS officers, including Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, KK Pathak.
The Bihar Government transferred KK Pathak and appointed him as the Additional Chief Secretary:
According to an official notification issued by the Bihar government’s General Administration Department, KK Pathak has been appointed as the Additional Chief Secretary of the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary S. Siddharth has been given additional charge of the Education Department until further orders. Pathak, notably, had been on a month-long leave.
Ever since taking charge of the Education Department, KK Pathak has remained in the spotlight for a series of controversies—from his differences with the Raj Bhawan to his stance on reducing school holidays. His removal was widely anticipated amid growing friction between the department and the Governor’s office.
After Pathak went on leave, Education Minister Prof. Chandra Shekhar, additional Chief Secretary S. Siddharth, and vice-chancellors of state universities attended a meeting convened by the Governor at the Raj Bhavan, followed by a departmental review meeting to address key issues.
KK Pathak and several other IAS officers under the Bihar government were also transferred:
Besides Pathak, several other IAS officers were also transferred:
Deepak Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue and Land Reforms Department—Additional Chief Secretary, Rural Works Department.
Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, Principal Secretary, Finance Department—Principal Secretary, Home Department (with additional charge of the Monitoring Department).
